Free consultation!Lighting ideas for a condo with concrete ceilings
Lighting in a high rise condo building can pose issues especially if you are in an older building like the 1970's Chicago condo we performed a luxury renovation on. Many of your clients do not know what the materials their building are built with but do know what they was as part of their vision of renovation project. This was the case while working in the Gold Coast condo in Chicago Illinois.
Our clients vision was a clean and modern look that could have been a problem but we think outside of the box so that we can achieve the vision our clients want. They had no knowledge that the ceiling was made of concrete and it was impossible to add can lights to the ceiling. They were very worried that floor lamps were the only lighting that would able to be used. We have been through this before in other condos on Lakeshore drive In Chicago and we had a plan to really "WOW" them.
As you can see we used metal studs that we secured to the ceiling and drywalled around the studs leaving areas for rope lighting and LED lighting in the cross connections of the framing for accent lighting. Here is Chicago we can not use Romex as an electric conduit so we had to add the steel conduit in the steel studs which all tied back to wall switches to allow only accent lighting or just the rope lighting to be used. We also added rope lighting to the drywalled areas above the windows to add height to the room.
At the end of the day our clients were amazed on the lighting and said we exceeded their vision on room lighting. If you are considering a condo renovation and you have a concrete ceiling and you need help with your vision please contact us @Postservices.co so we can give you some ideas that will "WOW" you.
